In July 2024, the Kyushu Institute of Technology (Kyutech), in collaboration with the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), launched the “CubeSat Salon,” a consultation service for the development and operation of CubeSats and other small satellites. The primary objective of the Salon is to establish an effective support system to improve the mission success rate of small satellites by offering mission assurance consulting to universities, companies, and other organizations involved in CubeSat projects.
The CubeSat Salon is designed to be a casual and welcoming space where individuals can drop by “just for a chat,” even if they are unsure how to start their project, whether their mission is feasible, or how to persuade their management. The aim is to provide a relaxed environment where people can engage in conversation over a cup of tea. While the main target audience includes universities, technical colleges, and companies with limited experience in satellite development or operations, anyone interested in CubeSat development or applications is welcome.
In addition to faculty members from Kyutech, the Salon also includes university professors from other institutions who have extensive experience and expertise in satellite development and operations.
The Salon also serves as a networking hub for those seeking to exchange information on satellite development and utilization. It aims to collect lessons learned and challenges encountered during real satellite projects and use this knowledge to support others. To further expand its knowledge base, the Salon has decided to offer consultation services to overseas participants as well.
The consultation service is free of charge. Topics discussed at the Salon are anonymized before being shared with others. The range of discussion topics is broad. Even if you are unsure whether your issue is suitable for the Salon, we encourage you to knock on our door.
We look forward to meeting you soon.
