Werner BALOGHWerner Balogh began his space career in 1997 as an Associate Expert for Space Applications with the United Nations Office for Outer Space Affairs (UNOOSA), where he contributed to the planning and organization of the UNISPACE III Conference held in 1999. Beginning from late 1999 he worked as a Programme Manager in the Austrian Space Agency and in this function acted as a national delegate to several European Space Agency Programme Boards. In 2004 he joined the European Organisation for the Exploitation of Meteorological Satellites (EUMETSAT) as an International Relations Officer responsible for interfacing with the European Space Agency and the European Commission on activities related to the Global Monitoring for Environment and Security (GMES) Initiative. In December 2006 he returned to UNOOSA, where he is presently working as a Programme Officer in the Space Applications Section of the. Werner holds engineering and doctorate degrees in technical physics from the Vienna University of Technology and master degrees from the International Space University and the Fletcher School of Law and Diplomacy.
